Smart Automobile to bring in #1 compact SUV to Singapore

Singapore - Fancy getting your hands on the all-new, all-electric Smart #1 compact crossover?

You will soon be able to, with Cycle & Carriage Singapore announcing their newly-minted role as the premium marque's general distributor earlier this month. According to C&C, the Smart #1 will be launched and delivered to customers by the first half of this year.

Smart, widely known for their radically space-efficient – if a bit comical – city cars, have undergone a transformation in recent years. Now a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Geely, the brand's ditching super-compact form factors for more conventional ones, and fully embracing electrification.

The #1 bears a striking resemblance to its EQA distant cousin; it is, after all, designed by the good folks over at Mercedes-Benz Design Studio.

It's nearly identical to the EQA when it comes to size too, and is powered by an electric motor that churns out 272 hp/343 Nm of torque via a 66 kWh battery. Smart claims anywhere between 420-440 km of range on the WLTP cycle.

Just as important is the charging time. According to official figures, the #1 will be able to juice up from 10% to 80% in under 30 minutes when plugged to a 150 kW fast charger.

Safety-wise, the #1 impresses with a full five-star Euro NCAP rating, with a suite of active safety technologies to keep all occupants safe. From emergency lane-keep assist to forward-and-rear collision mitigation systems, Smart's compact crossover carries on the safety-first ethos from its predecessors.

The new Smart showroom will be located on the third floor of the Mercedes-Benz Center, located at 301 Alexandra Road, and will be open to the public by Q3 2024.

But Cycle & Carriage is set on taking bring brand awareness efforts up a notch as well, with roving roadshows across the island planned after the launch. Interested parties will be able to get up close to the Smart #1 there and even perform test drives.
