Mr Hoonigan confirms to TG that plans are underway to make Gym 8 by later 2015, early 2016 Ken Block has confirmed the eighth instalment of his stupendously excellent Gymkhana series will land either late this year or in early 2016.

Speaking at the Goodwood Festival of Speed - where he was showcasing the 845bhp 'Hoonicorn' Mustang seen in Gymkhana 7 - TG's good friend confirmed that though he couldn't yet reveal the juicy details, Gymkhana 8 is in the works.

Block suggested Gym 8 won't star the modified Mustang, either, but rather something smaller. And Ford shaped. "I really enjoy promoting the smaller car packages, so I don't think we'll be using the Mustang again," he told us.

There is, he stated, a very small possibility the new film could use the brand new, 345bhp Ford Focus RS. Block, of course, had a hand in developing the new Ford hot hatch, and is a big fan.

"A Focus RS? It's possible, but it all depends on timing, of course," he said. "Whether it makes the cut for the next film or not though, the new RS will definitely play a role in future Gymkhana films.

"I'm sure at some point I will be converting to the RS. The RS is something that's dear to my heart, that I've been involved with, and I want to do Gymkhana with. But again, it's all about timing.

"We want to see that package perfected, to develop performance parts and so forth. We don't want to rush into that and make something that doesn't necessarily work. So it'll be there at some point, but I'm not sure exactly which Gymkhana it'll feature in..."

Block was keen to point out just how excited he is - and the world, no doubt - about Ford's performance hero.

"I'm excited about street versions of the new RS, about performance versions of the new RS. Genuinely, I've enjoyed the process of being part of the development - even if it was hard, because I wanted to set it up how I drive of course. But Ford have done an exceptional job with developing that car."

And there's no end in sight to the Gymkhana frolics, at least not for the time being. "As long as the fans keep watching - and I think Gymkhana 7 proved that - then we'll keep making them," he said.
