Singapore - “As Audi Singapore maintains focus on electrification to drive sustainable mobility, the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept embodies our vision of an all-electric estate, made unique by our signature Avant tradition,” said Markus Schuster, Managing Director, Audi Singapore.

“Estate cars continue to be popular options with many in Singapore, especially for families, and the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept is a further testament to our ability to blend heritage, design and performance in new and innovative ways,” Markus adds.

Depending on the brand, an estate (or station-wagon) may be known by many names: Touring, Variant, Sport Turismo and in Audi-speak, 'Avant', but there's no denying this form factor is the epitome of cool to many petrolheads.

In many ways, the Avant is inextricably bound into Audi's heritage – particularly its fast-wagon heritage – because the first fire-breathing Audi model to wear the 'RS' badge was the RS2 Avant wagon, which incidentally was technically co-developed with Porsche (as if the Porsche wing mirrors and 'Cup' alloy-rims on the RS 2 didn't give the game away).

"Estate cars continue to be popular options with many in Singapore, especially for families, and the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept is a further testament to our ability to blend heritage, design and performance in new and innovative ways," Markus Schuster (Managing Director - Audi Singapore)

Like the A6 e-tron Sportback Concept shown last year, the A6 Avant e-tron Concept also shares a common 800V PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture with Porsche, with the first Audi production vehicles to be built on this PPE platform to be successively unveiled from 2023.

The highly-versatile PPE (both battery size and wheelbase are scalable) is designed to accommodate high-volume automobiles like high-riding SUVs/Crossovers, as well as 'regular riding' cars like the Audi A6 range.

We're even told there are plans to build D- or even B-segment vehicles on the PPE range, the latter of which has been a big-volume market segment for Audi in more recent times.

The A6 Avant e-tron Concept shares the same 4.96m x 1.96m x 1.44m (LxBxH) as the current A6/A7 models, with dynamic proportions and an elegant silhouette that must surely have been conceived in a wind tunnel, especially when you consider its super-slippery 0.22 drag coefficient... and this of an estate mind you!

Like the other electric models in Audi's line-up, the A6 Avant e-tron Concept features a closed singleframe grille and a continuous strip of lights in the rear to as a powerful emphasis of its prodigious width.

Depending on drive system and model variant, an Audi A6 e-tron should deliver up to 700km of range (under the WLTP standard), with the most powerful model of the series dispatching 0 to 100 km/h in under four seconds.

An Avant is traditionally a 'storage beast' in terms of cargo, but with electrification, 'storage beast' takes on an added dimension as the drive system and battery technology lets it take in enough energy in just ten minutes at a fast-charging station to drive 300km, thanks to its 800-volt system and charging capacity of up to 270kW!

“With the Audi A6 Avant e-tron concept, we are offering a completely tangible look at future production models on our new PPE technology platform,” says Audi Board Member for Technical Development Oliver Hoffmann.

He continues, “We’re not just electrifying the Avant’s successful 45-year history. What we want most of all is to use technical skill to add an exclamation point. In particular, this includes powerful 800-volt technology, 270 kW of charging capacity, and a WLTP range of up to 700km.”
