Has this tuner fixed the BMW M4’s face?

Given the furore when it was announced, it’s a bit of a surprise that we haven’t seen more aftermarket tuning companies having a crack at creating a new front bumper and grille setup for the current BMW M3 and M4.

ADRO (Aerodynamic Development Race Optimization) reckons it is the first company to bring an option to market. Helpfully, it's provided a side-by-side image to aid better comparison. Behold.

Apparently the kidneys have been reduced in size by 10 per cent, with the grille mounted lower but the actual aperture wider than before. There’s an additional front lip which you can buy separately, and ADRO has also come up with side skirts, a rear diffuser and a rear wing in case you want to go the whole hog with modifying your M car.

“We had a specific goal and that was to fix all the wrong fundamentals of this front fascia and design a front the M4 deserves,” says ADRO design boss Davis Lee, formerly of Mercedes and Rivian.

“The M3 and M4 are considered the king of high-performance sedans (yes, he’s speaking in American), and BMW has never missed the mark with their design throughout the history of M3/M4. From a designer’s perspective, they’ve created a fundamentally wrong front with the latest generation of the M3/M4, and we decided it was our opportunity to fix this.”

Holding no punches, is he? Anyway, the ADRO bits are made from both carbon fibre and something called Thermoplastic olefin (TPO). All of the standard sensors and cameras can remain if you decide you like this look better, and the factory mounting points are all still used.

Apparently the front bumper will start from $3,500 after it’s launched at SEMA 2022, and the carbon fibre front lip will be $800 extra. There’s no word yet on prices for the other bits, but - given the furore when it was announced - no doubt you will have thoughts. Let us know what they are below.
