NVIDIA partners up with Jaguar Land Rover

Yep, that's right. NVIDIA. You'd think gaming PC rigs, RBG lighting and mechanical keyboards. But no, the partnership between the Brit carmaker and NVIDIA bears no relation to the widely popularised gaming credentials of the latter. (They did invent the GPU, after all)

Drawing on the tech giant's expertise as the world leader in artificial intelligence (AI) and computing, Jaguar Land Rover and NIVIDIA’s joint partnership looks into the development of next-gen automated driving systems and AI-enabled services for their customers.

“Our long-term strategic partnership with NVIDIA will unlock a world of potential for our future vehicles as the business continues its transformation into a truly global, digital powerhouse.” Said Thierry Bolloré, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover.

As part of this new long-standing joint venture, all new JLR vehicles from 2025 onwards will be built on the NVIDIA DRIVE platform, an autonomous vehicle development platform that delivers a wide spectrum of active safety and driver assistance features. The NVIDIA DRIVE system includes driver and occupant monitoring, as well as advanced visualisations of the vehicle’s environment.

“Next-generation cars will transform automotive into one of the largest and most advanced technology industries. Fleets of software-defined, programmable cars will offer new functionalities and services for the life of the vehicles. We are thrilled to partner with Jaguar Land Rover to reimagine the future of transportation and create the most advanced cars.” Said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA.
