Say hello to the latest special edition Mazda MX-5

By topgear, 13 April 2021

Yeah, we know what you’re thinking – ‘not another limited run Mazda MX-5?’ Well yes, it’s exactly that, but then Mazda has always loved giving its little roadster the special edition treatment. And quite a lot of you have loved buying them. Seems sensible to keep repeating the formula, then.

This particular edition is known as the Sport Venture, and if you think you’ve heard that name before, you really need to get out more. Just kidding, but you would be correct – the third-gen MX-5 also got a Sport Venture edition back in 2014.

This time around it’ll be limited to just 160 examples and can only be combined with the lesser-powered 1.5-litre 130bhp engine. Opting for the SV means you’ll get Deep Crystal Blue Mica paint, a grey fabric soft-top roof, Light Stone Nappa leather and silver trim on both the door mirrors and the roll hoops. It’s actually a great spec, isn’t it?

As with most MX-5 special editions there are no mechanical changes underneath, but then that’s no bad thing given how brilliant the standard car is to drive.
