This new Bugatti Baby II Carbon Edition costs SGD300,000

Bugatti has revealed a new car that costs SGD300,000, plus the appropriate taxes and shipping. It is called the Bugatti Baby II Carbon Edition and immediately you can see where this is going.

It is not a fully-grown monster capable of leather-wrapped warp speed, but instead a 75 per cent scale replica of Ettore Bugatti’s “original masterpiece”, 1926’s Bugatti Baby. That’s B-A-B-Y. Back in 2019, a limited run of these Baby IIs were built in collaboration with The Little Car Company – just 500 – to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the marque.

Now it’s the end of 2022 and we’re back at it, with this ‘Carbon Edition’ celebrating the last of the W16-engined Bugattis, the mesmerising Mistral. That car, revealed earlier this year, is a bewitching 16-cylinder speedster celebrating Bugatti’s history in open-topped motors. (New Bugatti boss Mate Rimac has told TG that the next Bugatti will still feature a combustion engine, mind...)

To the Baby II Carbon Edition, then. As you’ll have guessed by now, it’s only available to the 99 customers of the Mistral. Each one gets bespoke paintwork and specs tailored to said customers, but as standard features a suite of carbon items including radiator and grille elements, dash and interior panels, mirror mounts and steering wheel centre.

Bugatti has actually applied some lightweighting too, removing the spare wheel, its bracket and straps too, along with adding “beautifully painted black components” to add a bit of depth. Should you wish, the side of the II Carbon Edition can be hand-painted with the French flag in honour of Ettore’s home turf.

Otherwise it’s as per 2019’s Baby II – a diddy electric motor onboard and a top speed – in the right edition – of a heady 86km/h. Want to see where it went?
