VW launches its third generation Touareg SUV in Singapore
The new, third generation Volkswagen Touareg gives you plenty of reasons to do things the SUV way
Singapore - The Singapore Wine Vault was the venue for Volkswagen to show-off the latest Touareg, the brand's range-topping model.
This third generation Touareg represents the latest in design and technology from Volkswagen and carries on a legacy that has seen a million units sold since the model series was first launched in 2002.
The Touareg is available in the exclusive trims of Atmosphere, Elegance and R-Line. With COE, the Touareg Atmosphere is priced at S$289,900, the Touareg Elegance S$289,900 and the top-of-the-line Touareg R-Line, S$321,900.
The new Volkswagen Touareg is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine producing 335hp and 450Nm, which is matched to an 8spd automatic gearbox. Apart from 4Motion permanent all-wheel drive for better grip in all surface conditions, the top-of-the-line R-Line variant even features all-wheel-steering as standard, which translates to better manoeuvrability and a tighter turning circle at low speeds and improved stability at high speeds.
The new Volkswagen Touareg also includes a raft of active safety features, such as Lane Assist and Rear Traffic Alert. Traffic Jam Assist even imbues the Touareg with semi-autonomous abilities by taking over brakes, accelerator and even steering in jams and start-stop traffic.
The Front Assist system with City Emergency Brake function also impresses with its ease of use and technological precision: Front Assist uses a radar sensor integrated behind the VW badge on the front grille to continually monitor vehicles moving ahead and City Emergency Brake can bring the car to a complete halt in critical situations.
A 15-inch Discover Premium infotainment system takes centrestage in the central console, and this is supported by a Digital Cockpit with a 12-3-inch display and a Head-up Display, a triumvirate that completes Volkswagen’s fully-digitalised Innovision Cockpit.
