BMW reveals rare X7 ‘Dark Shadow Edition' SUV
This is a big, V8 SUV, built by the folks over at BMW. Its official title is the BMW X7 ‘Dark Shadow Edition’, which is, according to the folks over at BMW, the first ‘Edition’ model of the big, V8 SUV.
Dark Shadow, then. Not a Lord of the Rings villain, but instead a name that represents the brand new colour being debuted on this X7. Which is ‘Frozen Arctic Grey’. Or ‘Do Not Mess With Me Earthling’, probably.
It’s only available as a M50i – it is called Dark Shadow, don’t forget – which means a 4.4-litre turbocharged V8, 530hp and 750Nm of torque. A big, fast shadow, able to go from 0-100km/h in 4.7s.
There’s a standard-fit M Sports pack comprising of various aero-optimised body parts – a bit like putting a diffuser on a country mansion – 22in light alloy wheels, and an M Sport exhaust system.
As one would expect of a special edition making novel use of a menacing new colour, this X7 features high-gloss black finishes across the reasonably-sized-and-definitely-in-proportion grille, the ‘air breathers’ and exhaust pipes. Inside, there is black/blue leather, blue Alcantara headlining, and black interior trim finishers on the centre console.
Toys aplenty, too: a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system, heat comfort pack, panoramic glass roof, a head-up display, TV function, rear-seat entertainment and even a massage function for the front seats, all as standard.
