Porsche celebrates its big "Seven-Oh!" in Singapore with a Big Bang...

Singapore - Porsche recently enjoyed a double dose of festivities in Singapore, as the brand celebrated its 70th Anniversary, and at the same time, local Porsche owners' group, Porsche Club Singapore (or PCS for short), ushered in its big three-oh.

The shindig was suitably glitzy, not least because of the multi-hued spectacle of owner-driven Porsche sportscars arrayed outside the venue at the Shangri-La Hotel, but with an added display indoors of two generations of the 911 T – the 1960s original enjoyed the spotlight alongside the modern 991.2 iteration.

(S$91k raised before the additional S$20,900 from the charity auction during the gala dinner)

The gala celebration was extra-meaningful because it raised a total of S$111,900 for The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. S$70k was donated by Mr. Karsono Kwee (Executive Chairman of Eurokars Group and founder of Stuttgart Auto), S$21k from the gala dinner ticket sales, and an additional S$20,900 through the auction of specially curated collectibles and Porsche memorabilia.

Dr. Henrik Dreier (General Manager – Singapore, Porsche Asia Pacific) said, “Tonight is a celebration of 70 years of the Porsche brand. The first sportscar to bear the Porsche name, the 356 ‘No. 1’ Roadster, was registered exactly 70 years ago today. Since then, Porsche has further developed into a world-leading and innovative manufacturer of sportscars that combines tradition and innovation, performance and everyday usability, design and functionality, as well as exclusivity and social acceptance. Be it on the race track or on the road, in the passenger seat or behind the wheel, every single one of our Porsche models represents a piece of motoring history and a statement for the future.”
