The Latest Honda Jazz Has Arrived

More fuel efficient, more power and more interior space, the third-generation Honda Jazz looks set to shake up the 5-door hatchback segment with a whole host of new features.

"The highlights of this FMC is Honda's Human Centred Design – beautiful design, fun to drive, exemplary fuel efficient, two completely new Earth Dreams engines and CVT, an even bigger interior space," said Mr. Nicholas Wong, General Manager, Kah Motor Co. Sdn. Bhd.

The Jazz now beats with two new hearts: The L13B1 1.3L DOHC i-VTEC engine produces 100hp at 6,000 rpm and 119Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. The larger L15B3 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC engine for the Jazz RS features Direct Injection and makes 130hp at 6,600 rpm and 155Nm of torque at 4,600rpm.

Both engines are coupled with a new continuously variable transmission (CVT) with enhanced gear ratios and a G-Design Shift, claiming more efficient fuel consumption and better acceleration.  For manual shift override, a paddle shift system is incorporated into the multi-function steering wheel to provide a simulated 7-speed shift feel. Don't fret if you are a purist, the Jazz RS can be ordered with a 6-speed manual!

The new Honda Jazz is expected to achieve a fuel economy rating of 5.1L/100km and a CO2 output of 121 g/km for the 1.3L, 5.3L/100km and a CO2 output of 127 g/km for the 1.5L and finally, 5.7L/100km and a CO2 output of 136 g/km for the 1.5L 6MT. These figures indicate that all three Jazzes quality for a $10,000 CEVS rebate.

Safety has been improved with Vehicle Stability Assist now as standard equipment, along with Hill Start Assist and Emergency Stop Signal. The Jazz also comes fitted with a multi-angle reverse camera, which is hooked to the Display Audio entertainment system.

On the inside, the new 7' Display Audio with HondaLink Technology offers smartphone integration. More high tech comforts include the Multi-function Steering Wheel which houses controls for the 7-speed Paddle Shift, Cruise Control, Audio Control Switch, and Hands-free Telephone Switch. The Jazz RS model receives the One-Push Start System and the keyless-entry Honda Smart Key System.

One of the old Jazz's trump cards is its interior space and versatility. In the new Jazz, Honda improved the space even more, by moving the fuel tank to the centre of the car and making it flatter. ULTRA seats at the back continue to provide comfortable seating, plus the ability to carry bulky cargo, be it long or tall.

The new Jazz is currently available from Kah Motor, and is offered with a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty. Currently, there is a launch promotion for the new Jazz. The 1.3L goes for S$107,488, with the RS 1.5L at S$113,499. Both prices include a subsidy of S$500 and 3 years free servicing package.
