Porsche has finally pulled the wraps off its long-awaited, high-riding 911 Dakar, and if you want the full story then all you need to do is click these blue words.

If you want the short story, then it’s a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat six sending 480hp to all four wheels through an 8spd PDK gearbox, with 50mm more suspension travel than a standard 911 and proper chunky tyres.

Oh, and there’s a roof rack, but that doesn’t seem to be an option on the configurator just yet.

Still, the configurator is what we’re here to talk about, because despite the lack of rooftop storage options it is absolutely brilliant. As with all Porsche configurators you can pick from a huge list of Paint to Sample colours, and we’re really not sure what we’d go for were we lucky enough to be getting one of the 2,500 examples.
