It's the 1160bhp Koenigsegg Agera RS

Just seven examples of the Koenigsegg One:1 exist in the world, and Mr Koenigsegg himself considers this a great shame.

Why? Because the technology poured into those amazing 1340bhp hypercars - six for customers, one for keeps - was too good to restrict to seven super-exclusive 'megacars'. Step forward then, this new Koenigsegg Agera RS - a harder version of the Agera R, but a sort of 'Diet' One:1.

Christian von Koenigsegg pointed out to TG a few factors that mark this as the little brother to that exclusive One:1. The 1.8g of cornering force compared to the One:1's 2g. The slightly lower power output, the luggage space, the (fractionally) better rear visibility, and detachable hardtop. See? Friendly.

But it'll still quite happily rip your face off if you mistreat it. That 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 pumps out 1160bhp using regular 95-octane fuel, allowing the Agera RS to accelerate from 0-300km/h in just 14 seconds. It'll go from 0-402km/h in 20 seconds.

And despite its road-going, relatively user-friendly nature, it's been optimised for the track. Over the Agera R, the RS gets lightweight sound insulation, a new track-optimised front splitter, front winglets, side skirts, dynamic underbody flaps, an active rear spoiler with 450kg of downforce at 250km/h, and improved side air outlets behind the front wheels. It's lighter, too.

"This Agera RS is classic Koenigsegg," Christian tells us referencing the 1800bhp luxury Regera his company has just unleashed upon Geneva. Where that car is a marginally softer, road-going offering with comfort and a touch more opulence, this RS is "the modern F40, very raw and ready."

Just 25 will be built, and each one costs US$1,650,000 - just over EU1m. Eleven have already been sold.

"It's still extreme," says Christian, "but a little bit more user friendly..."
