American gymkhana extraordinaire, Ken Block Dead at 55
Ken Block, gymkhana extraordinaire, WRC competitor and co-founder of DC Shoes, has died at the age of 55.
In a statement dated earlier this morning (10:06 am Singapore Standard Time), thehoonigans published a post announcing Block’s passing in a snowmobile accident.
The announcement appears to coincide with Block’s own Instagram stories, which depict a number of Can-Am and Ski-Doo vehicles covered in layers of snow.
He leaves behind his wife Lucy, and three kids including a 16-year-old daughter, Lia, who is also active in the motorsports scene.
Block, who was known for his involvement with several automotive brands like Subaru, Ford and Audi, was prominent for a number of reasons. His exploits in the World Rally Championship, X-games, Rally America, and more notably, his Gymkhana series of films starring a number of rally cars and customised vehicles. Some of which include his Ford Fiesta H.F.H.V. (The Hybrid Function Hoon Vehicle), his customised Ford Hoonicorn Mustang and more recently, the Audi S1 HOONITRON.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. Ken Block, you will be sorely missed. Thank you for all the memories.
