Singapore - BMW just announced the availability of the BMW 216i Gran Coupe. This joins the lineup of both the existing BMW 218i and BMW M235i Gran Coupe models.

The 216i is powered by a 1.5 litre 3-cylinder engine ( similar to what is found in the Mini One), with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, good for 109hp, and 190Nm. This means that the newest baby Gran Coupe, is a category A COE friendly BMW. The BMW 216i boasts class-leading fuel economy of 5.5L/100km. With CO2 emissions of 125g/km, the BMW 216i also benefits from a VES A2, $15,000 rebate.

Two trims are available, the Sport Line, which includes interior trim finished in the ‘Illuminated Berlin’ style, electrically-adjustable sports seats up front, and a sport leather steering wheel. The M high-gloss Shadowline adds black high-gloss to the window frame surrounds, and double-spoke 17-inch alloys.

The rest of the 216i Gran Coupe is familiar ground, being equipped with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional system as standard, backing this is BMW’s voice activated Operating System 7. The adaptive navigation system and a hard-drive-based multimedia system are standout features of the compact 4-door coupe.

The 216i Gran Coupe also gets as standard the Driving Assistant package, which comprises features like Lane Change Warning system, route-ahead assistant, rear collision warning and crossing traffic warning. The last feature reduces the risk of collisions when reversing onto roads obstructed from the driver’s view. Like current BMW cars, the 216i Gran Coupe also features the brand’s innovative Reversing Assistant, which is able to reverse, covering the route previously taken for distances of up to 50 metres at a maximum 9 km/h.

“The BMW 2 Series houses the most versatile line-up in our model portfolio, ranging from sporty two-door or four-door Coupés, to compact crossovers, and spacious people movers. With such a wide breadth of models, it’s no wonder the 2 Series is a favourite among customers in Singapore,” said Mr. Lars Nielsen, Managing Director, BMW Group Asia. “The BMW 216i Gran Coupé we’re launching today adds further versatility to the premium compact segment by maintaining all the qualities that customers love while packing even more value for money.”

The BMW 216i Gran Coupe Sport retails for $203,888 (price accurate at time of publication) inclusive of COE.
