BYD announces the ATTO 3 crossover for Singapore

In Singapore, BYD has been a long-standing purveyor of electric vehicles. Now the brand has announced a new entrant into their product lineup, the BYD ATTO 3 crossover. Predictably, it’s an EV as well.

Here in Singapore, the current BYD range includes the BYD e6 electric MPV, the M3e electric van and that’s your lot. But come the second quarter of 2022, the brand’s new EV crossover will hit Singapore’s shores.

The BYD ATTO 3, also referred to as the Yuan Plus in some foreign markets, is built atop BYD’s e-platform 3.0, a platform designed and intended for high-performance EVs with four key attributes in mind: Intelligence, efficiency, safety and aesthetics.

The BYD ATTO 3 embodies the brand’s new design language, which they've taken to calling “Dragon face 3.0”. Naming convention aside, the car’s shell appears to be much sleeker than its brethren, with smooth body contours and trick aero rims that ought to reduce drag. The back end also features a rear light bar, because why not. As a whole, it looks like a rather neat piece of kit.

We’re also told that the cabin will feature a sporty-themed interior, designed by BYD’s Global interior Design Director, Mr Michele Jaunch-Paganetti.

“BYD has a strong reputation for building excellent-quality new energy vehicles, and we are excited to bring ATTO 3 into Singapore,” Said Mr Anthony Teo, Managing Director of Vantage Automotive. “With its unique design language, improved power, and revolutionary technology, we strongly believe that the car will have a resounding welcome here.”

According to BYD, the e-platform 3.0 is intended to kick off a new generation of smart electric vehicles by further improving on EV safety and battery performance. Apart from the new and improved platform, the ATTO 3 also features BYD’s Blade Battery technology, which offers industry-leading safety levels and and an extended single-charge range capability.

The blade battery pack also increases the space utilisation by 50%, compared to their lithium iron phosphate counterparts, which results in significant improvements in range and efficiency.

Based on the specifications of the Yuan Plus, the ATTO 3 could be powered by an electric drive motor that churns out 204 horsepower and 310Nm of torque. We may also expect to see both 50kWh and 60kWh versions of the ATTO 3 making an appearance here in Singapore.

So internet, what do you reckon?
