Polestar debuts a new space in Singapore

Yep, you read that right: A space. That’s the term Polestar uses to call what we common folk would refer to as a showroom. Call it what you want, but stepping foot into the showroom space is unlike any other conventional showroom you’d find in Singapore. It actually feels as if we set foot into a modern art gallery (I’ll get back to that in a bit).

The Polestar Singapore Space is the very first of Polestar’s showrooms to make an appearance here in Southeast Asia. In fact, Singapore is one of only three countries in the Asia Pacific region to host such a….. space.

The launch of the space also saw the appearance of a third Polestar 2 variant; The Standard Range Single Motor, which incidentally is the cheapest variant of the Volvo offshoot’s model range. Priced at S$211,000 at the time of writing, the Polestar 2 SRSM packs the same 231hp single motor power unit as the Long Range Single Motor. Unlike the LRSM and Long Range Dual Motor models, it ditches the larger “long-range” battery pack for a 69kWh unit that has a range of 474km on WLTP test cycles. But that’s another story for another day, back to the show(room).

The “space” itself occupies the entire west corner of Wearnes Automotive’s building on Leng Kee Road, taking over the space once occupied by the Infiniti showroom which has since ceased operations in Singapore.

The exterior facade shows the Swedish brand’s fastidious attention to detail or lack thereof. The white exterior fascia is devoid of any glaringly obvious brand names or vibrant splashes of colour. The only indication that the space is occupied by the Polestar is the brand’s four-pointed star logo on the storefront, or space-front. That, and the floor to ceiling glass windows that give outsiders a glimpse of the vehicles housed within.

Inside, the decor is Scandi-Minimalist with lofty ceilings, brushed metal cabinetry and large portrait screens. Think, billionaire-genius-playboy-philanthropist superhero lair meets space-age sci-fi laboratory. Jokes aside, the modern art gallery vibes are impeccable. Down to the automatic cabinets that house paint samples and swathes of leather for specifying one’s very own Polestar.

Taking centre stage in the showroom is a massive bench with an in-built screen that visitors can use to view the brand’s various offerings. On the other end of the bench is a grid marked surface for potential Polestar buyers to obsess over their perfect spec. Akin to a high fashion atelier.

The new Polestar Space is situated on 45 Leng Kee Road and is open from 8:30am to 7pm from Monday to Saturday, 10am to 7pm on Sundays and public holidays.
