This is a new, special edition Lamborghini Aventador SVJ

Are car designers running out of things to be inspired by?

Case in point, Lamborghini’s latest special edition – the Aventador SVJ Xago edition. If we gave you a thousand guesses, you wouldn’t even get close to identifying what the inspiration was for this thing.

That’s because Lamborghini says this car reflects its own fascination with hexagonal design, and “the hexagon cloud shapes at the North Pole on the planet Saturn”. Yep, that’s Saturn’s Hexagon, sitting on the flanks of a hardcore 6.5-litre, V12-engined Lamborghini. Turns out, in space, everyone can hear your V12 scream.

Only 10 Xago editions will be built, with each one getting those Saturn-style hexagonal graphics, a contrast livery, gloss black wheels and similar patterns all over the interior.

The aim is to drum up some interest in Lamborghini’s new virtual Ad Personam studio, which offers customers the chance to personalise their car without heading all the way to the Ad Personam department in Sant’Agata.

Lambo launched its standard personalisation programme in 2013, and apparently 50 per cent of all cars it now sells come off the production line with at least one Ad Personam detail. With the new virtual studio, though, an extra 150 consultations can take place each year.

Prepare for more bonkers colour combinations on everything from Aventadors and the Urus SUV, people…
