Shock and Phwoar

Fancy running around with automotive technology at your feet? With Porsche Design’s Bounce: S4, you can.

Here’s a shoe that has been infused with real automotive technology. Designed and developed by adidas and Porsche Design Sport, the ‘Bounce: S4’ is a running shoe that features a car-inspired suspension system, which transfers vertical forces into horizontal forces. In other words, we’re getting a slice of Porsche’s suspension technology in a running shoe, which (we hope!) will help us run further, faster and more efficiently.

At the heel of the matter, the shoe features a refined pivot mechanism and spring construction that literally feels like you’ve got a spring in your step when you’re on the move. With each landing stride, the reduced spring leaf sole construction propels you forward. Already in its fourth iteration, the Bounce S4 makes use of a high-tech carbonfibre plate in its heel area to improve stability, which also helps in shedding those precious extra grammes (from the shoe, not the runner!).

Visually, the shoe’s streamlined design is inspired by aerodynamics. It also comes with a full mesh upper that’ll comfortably fit your feet, almost like a breathable glove. The Porsche Design Sport Bounce: S4 is priced from $740 and will be available at all Porsche Design boutiques from November.

While it’s cool to actually run around with Porsche’s suspension technology in your trainers, here are three equally fashionable options if you’re more inclined to strolling (or cruising) around downtown.
